Java to appear in next-gen DVD players
Microsoft Dumps Computer-Oriented Format, Chooses HD-DVD
Microsoft, Toshiba join together for HD-DVD (Tip: Borrow a login from bugmenot.)
Seemed odd. Then I just saw this:
Java to appear in next-gen DVD players
Aha! What a laugh riot.
I find it very interesting that Java has such wide adoption in the embedded consumer markets. (Maybe I should pickup some J2ME skillz.) And I really enjoy watching the street brawl between all comers (Sun, Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, etc.). Being a half-hearted fan of Sun, kind of like rooting for your neighbor's kid at the Special Olympics, it's reassuring to see them win a few.

Opting Out in the Debate on Evolution
From: Jason Aaron Osgood
Subject: Opting Out in the Debate on Evolution
To: John West (jwest@spu.com)
Hi John West-
You were quoted [1] as saying:
"If the evidence for modern Darwinian theory is so overwhelming, they
should have called the bluff on the other side and come and made their
arguments. They should have put up or shut up."
You know what'd be really great? You yourself could put up or shut up.
Where, exactly, is this research you claim to be conducting?
Alternately, you could just save us all the hassle and skip to the shut
up step.
Anti-intellectual politically motivated partisan parasites (such as
yourself) benefitting from the fruits of science, technology, and
progress have no legitimate basis for criticism. The moment you forego
the advances made since the harnessing of fire, then I'll take your
commitment to your beliefs seriously. Until then, you're just another
greedy poseur (aka "wanker").
Cheers, Jason Aaron Osgood / Seattle WA
PS- Gravity is also just a "theory".
